We now have available and are pleased to offer for your consideration a
completely rebuilt tube/pipe
perforator, with significant design enhancements, originally designed and
manufactured by Allen
Machine Works in 1970. Summary specification follows:
* Pipe diameter capacity: four (4) inch to twenty (20) inch
* Maximum single pass pipe perforation length: twenty (20) feet
* Number of spindles: forty two (42) on six (6) inch centers
* Spindle Capacity: one (1) to four (4) cutters
* Spindle Type: One (1)” Diameter Quick-Detach (special added feature)
* Recommended cutter size: four (4) inch outside diameter with one (1) inch
arbor diameter
* Typical machine cycle time (one cutter cycle): seventy five (75) to ninety
(90) seconds
* Spindle Drive: three (3) – twenty (20) H.P. elec. motors driving
self-contained Gear Reducers
* Hydraulic Power Unit: twenty (20) H.P. self–contained
* Electrical power: 220/440 volts 3 phase
* Complete electrical control system included
Allen perforators use standard bearings, seals and gears.
This perforator has forty-two spindles. Each spindle can accommodate from one to
four cutters.
Therefore, each cycle of the machine can cut from forty two to one hundred sixty
eight (42X4) slots
per machine cycle. The following formula estimates the production rate for a
twenty foot length of
tube/pipe:
No. of rows of slots on a given circumference ( Machine X Time per = time
required to
No. of Cutters per spindle Cycles) Cycle perforate 20 feet
required to
For example, to cut thirty two (32) rows of slots on the circumference a Grade A
53B sixteen inch
diameter pipe, using two cutters per spindle (16 machine cycles), with 6 inch
centers along the length
of a 20 foot pipe would require approximately 24 minutes, assuming a 90 second
cycle time. This does
not include load or unload time. If slots were required on three (3) inch
centers along the length, twice
as many slots per foot, then the time per twenty foot length will double.
The rebuilding of this machine included the following:
New bearings New grease seals New drive gears
New spindles New arbors New limit Switches
New control system New coolant system New hydraulic lines
New hydraulic valves New hydraulic drive motors New powered transfer rolls
New lift drive lube systems New lube oil New gear lube system
Cleaned & Tested – hydraulic pumps and electric drive motors
Bored & horned air cylinders with new piston, cups, rods and bushings
